Niu sessions and VjCulture at Metropolis (La2/TVE)

Yesterday evening we had a very nice time at Niu Gallery, and it could have been perfect just without my back pain.
After the live sessions, from which I keep in mind "La Máquina de Turing" (wicked), we came backhome early because 31th was goona be the great day and we had to rest. Once at home May realized that it was a report about Vj culture and "Eutopía", an international vj festival in Sevilla. It was in the tv show Metrópolis at the TVE2 channel.
It’s the first time I can watch a full program focussed on Vj\nculture and its difussion. The introducer was the filmmaker Peter\nGreeaway (wtf?) as a kind of link between the cinema world and veejing\nscene. I think this is an evidence of the weight of vjing in\ncontemporary culture, in spite of the on and off attention it gets in\nthe clubbing culture (where the veejing was born), many times just\nfocussed on the dj figure.
So, we were watching the program. There was an interview about the\nfucking masters AdictiveTV, and suddenly, cut and appears… our live\ndemo reel and DELACREW-SPAIN and the audio tracks beating the\nspeakers… we shouted like in a football match, what a surprise!. And\nit didn’t end here, cause after our demo was a Cold Cut interview with\nour Prodigy remix in background. We laugh to die. Delacrew rulez!
So, double happiness to see the veejing movement being serious\nenough to be considered by Metropolis or Peter Greenaway, and happiness\nto see ourselves inside the movement. And also, our tracks sounds\nfucking good at TV.

jajaja muy bueno vuestro post! la verdad es que es cachondo el relato que hacéis de la mezcla del audio y el vídeo de Delacrew entre Coldcut y Addictive TV… nos hemos pegado unas risas con lo del grito de “gooool” y me alegro :) vuestro trabajo es muy bueno…
Y el WTF! de Greenaway pues la verdad es que es bastante WTF! pero no deja ser un personaje muy relevante en la cultura europea que hace Vjing y está asesorado por la gente de NOTV que lo “otro” que hacen es fiestas de Vj en Amsterdam… osea que el proyecto merece la pena. Aunqu el resultado cuando lo trajimos a Sevilla, es manifiestamente mejorable… como muchas sesiones de cualquier VJ :)

:D Que bueno verte por aqui Pedro !!
Si que nos pegamos unas risas, es lo que tiene no saber que vas a salir en la tele y encontrarte ahí en medio :)
Lo del WTF de Greenaway es por dos razones:
- Una, la de tener a un director de cine reconocido como introductor o “curator” de la expo. Positivo.
- Otra, que parece que siempre hace falta alguien consagrado para cosagrar un movimiento artístico y eso no se si es positivo o negativo. :P
Por otra parte, tanto “Repeat, please” como todo lo que ocurrió en Sevilla en vuestro festival tienen el máximo respeto y son hasta ahora la mejor muestra de veejing que ha pasado por España.
Una vez más. gracias por haber contado con nosotros y ya sabeis que podeis seguir hacíendolo cuando considereis.

Interesante esa reflexión sobre lo de Greenaway, es para pensarlo bien. En todo caso a nosotros nos ha servido para generar un espacio de atención en nuestra ciudad y en nuestro ámbito y bueno luego nos ha permitido introducir otras cosas interesantes en la programación del festival. Vamos que me quedo con lo que dices no sé si es positivo o negativo… lo que está claro es que lo que hace Greenaway es importante para todos los que estamos metidos en esto… Seguro que hacemos cosas juntos otra vez :)
